Month 3: Both Flesh and Not

I can't quite make my mind up about David Foster Wallace's Both Flesh and Not. On the one hand, it took me over a year to make it all the way through; most of the stories didn't captivate me. On the other hand, even though I found the content tedious, the quality of writing was rather impressive. I think I'd like to read one of his longer pieces of fiction before coming to a hard conclusion.

More than anything, I was rather impressed by the level of expertise and skill imbued in Wallace's writing. Most of the voices that clutter our channels are those of dilettantes (mine included!). For a change, it's nice to get lost in the words of someone who so clearly knows his discipline.
