Thrifting in Sebastopol

Sebastopol, about 55 miles north of San Francisco, is chock full of antique shops. We spent a day in January exploring them, and I wanted to record some of my impressions to help guide future trips.

#1 Nothin' New

A funny shop with seemingly 50% of their merchandise out in the parking lot. Unfortunately, we went after a big rain, so most of the outdoor pieces were water-logged. A small indoor fountain similarly lent a certain moisture to the interior as well. Also, heavy on the cigarette smell.

#2 Llano House Antiques

One of our favorites of the trip. Composed of two old cottages, the selection of items covered large to small and was well-organized and arranged. One cottage held mainly furniture and art; the second focused on smaller home goods, with a substantial collection of glass, old tools, and wooden chairs.

#3 Windmill

Very sweet shopkeeper. The store didn't have a lot of stuff that was our style, but there were some interesting bits here and there. It was one of the more restrained shops we visited, which was a nice break for our very stimulated eyes.

#4 Food For Thought Antiques

So much stuff! A huge shop with 2 floors and a backyard packed full of furniture, clothing, books, small home goods, and more. Most styles were covered and the pricing seemed fair, though the quantity of items means this place is not for the faint of heart

#5 Antique Society

A self-described antique collective, AS is right across the street from Food for Thought and houses even more treasures/junk to sift through. It is a mall of different vendors, so the booths range in quality, scope, pricing and focus. Interesting things are certain to be found, though the vendors know what they have and the prices reflect that.

I love this packaging! The block printing kit was like new.
