Armstrong Redwood State Natural Preserve & Pinnacle Gulch Trail
Confusingly, this is Pt. Bonita Lighthouse in the Headlands, not part of our trip, but part of this film roll that was all developed together.
My family's big 2015 summer trip was a road trip up the California coast, and Eric and I were able to sneak away from SF for a few days to join them in Occidental and Dillon Beach to cap off the trip.
As a warm-up, we hiked the short Pinnacle Gulch Coastal Access Trail and explored the rocky beach. The parking lot and trailhead are embedded in the Bodega Harbour golf community, which lent a sense of privacy to the jaunt (bonus points for being dog-friendly).
The next day, we headed to Armstrong Redwood State Natural Preserve a few miles north of Guerneville to see some Redwoods, escape the coastal fog, and stretch our legs a little more. We loosely followed the Pioneer Trail and then veered onto the Pool Ridge Trail, about 2.5 miles with a 500' climb. My parents were total troopers and now we're all ready for a 5+ mile hike (right?!). Eric documented the trip with his AE-1; so nice to have film photos, but I miss seeing him in front of the lens.
I'll just leave you with this ridiculous family portrait:
